Zoning Commission Notice of Public Roundtables

Washington, D.C.: The District of Columbia Zoning Commission is holding two roundtables to hear public comment regarding the existing Zoning Regulations (11 DCMR) on:

Thursday, June 21, 2007 & Thursday, July 12, 2007
From 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.,
at 441 4th Street, N.W., Room 220-South, Washington, D.C. 20001.

The Zoning Commission is interested in hearing the ways the existing regulations work and do not work. Specifically, the Commission is interested in hearing views from the public on whether the regulations should be completely overhauled or whether the regulations should be updated; what specific sections are effective, ineffective, or in need of special study; and, best practices used in other jurisdictions.

After the roundtables, OP and OZ will make recommendations to the Commission on how to move forward with the revisions and special focus areas.

The roundtable discussions are open to all interested persons.

Ground rules will be set and strictly adhered to so as to allow everyone a chance to articulate their position. Please take the following into account:

  • This roundtable will not focus on any specific projects due to potential future hearings. Such exchange of information could be considered ex parté communication.
  • Time limits will be established for organization representatives, as well as individual persons. The time limits will be adhered to tightly so everyone has a chance to speak.
    • Each organization or ANC (one representative per organization/ ANC) will be allotted 5 minutes.
    • Individuals will be allotted 3 minutes each.
    • No ceding of time will be allowed.
  • In case there is not ample time for participants to complete their statements, everyone is encouraged to submit a written copy of their statement ahead of time, or to submit it the day of the roundtable.
  • Anyone who wishes to speak must call the Office of Zoning at (202) 727-0789 to reserve a place on the speaker’s schedule. Participants will be recognized at the roundtable in the order in which their calls were received.
