Office of Zoning Director Weinbaum Receives NAIOP 2010 Developing Leaders Award
Washington, D.C., September 16, 2010 – Jamison L. Weinbaum has been named as one of the recipients of the 2010 Developing Leaders Award, presented by NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association
Weinbaum, who holds a law degree from The George Washington University School of Law, currently serves as Director of the D.C. Office of Zoning, where he oversees the development of commercial and residential projects throughout the District and directs a staff of 19 employees. Previously, he served on the D.C. Mayor’s Economic Development team after working in the private sector for several years.
He is very active within NAIOP’s Maryland/D.C. chapter and was a charter member of the chapter’s real estate emerging leaders (REEL) group. He has orchestrated several education programs and networking events for REEL and led the implementation of the group’s “Neighborhood Spotlight” series, a series of events focusing on burgeoning local markets attended by prominent developers and community stakeholders. As a result of his dedication and efforts to the REEL program, the group has grown to more than 100 members since 2007. He also participates in the planning and execution of “REEL Gives Back Volunteering on the National Mall.
This year, the Developing Leaders Award was bestowed upon 15 up-and-coming professionals who have distinguished themselves in their profession and show great promise as future leaders of the commercial real estate industry.
NAIOP President Thomas J. Bisacquino spoke of the importance of the Developing Leaders Award, stating, “The Developing Leaders program advances NAIOP’s agenda and enhances our diversity by acknowledging and encouraging the involvement of these accomplished young professionals who will lead our organization and the commercial real estate industry into the future.”
In an effort to engage and encourage up-and-coming young commercial real estate professionals, NAIOP established the Developing Leaders Award in 2006. The honor was designed to engage tomorrow's leaders and connect them with NAIOP's increasing education and benefits available to new and developing professionals.
Award recipients will be honored at Development ’10: The Annual Meeting for Commercial Real Estate in Orlando
